Jazak

The Jazak Ethno house and farmstead is
situated in the village bearing the same name, near Vrdnik spa,
in the middle part of southern slopes of Fruska Gora - the only
mountain of the "Panonian sea", at the altitude of
180-220 meters.
The Jazak Ethno house and farmstead consists
of dwelling and economy quarters (pigsty, a brandy&wine
production shed, a structure for gain storage), as well as of
an economic yard, with an outdoor bread baking furnace, a shed
for drying and smoking meat products, fruits&vegetables,
and separate field toilet.
The house itsef is over 300 years old,
and is an example of rural folk arhitecture from 18th century.
It is built from stone (the lower parts) and from rammed-earth
consturction (the upper parts), with wooden roof structure,
covered by crown ("pepper") clay tiles.
Within
the house, a permanent exibition of 18th to 20th century objects,
is arranged, observing basic principles of contemporary museums.
Nowadays, the deck of the brandy&wine production shed, is
used as a stage on which cultural-artistic life of the village,
and of this part of Srem, unravels: literature meetings, art
colony, organic food promotions, tourist manifestations, etc.
Various village festivities are being held here, associated
with Christmas, Easter, Djurdjevdan (St. Georges day) and the
Holy Ghosts. The premises of The Jazak Ethno house and farmstead,
besides "Teocin" Homeland Society, are also being
used by "Teodor Avramovic Tican" cultural-artistic
society and Literature commune "Drugari" (Friends),
all from the village of Jazak, for their respective activities.
